DTS to Ogg Vorbis/MP2/MP3/MP4/Muse
Pack/FLAC/APE Monkey's Audio/Speex/WavPack/OptimFrog
(with Foobar2000
(special installer) from saunalahti with corrected vorbis_enc.dll (Proof)
-> conversion done with the DTS-Plugin)
(back)
Foobar2000 is able to convert DTS into all
formats for which an encoding plugin exits.
If a specific sampling frequency is needed (KHz) set up Foobar's Resampler
(SSRC) filter and insert it to the DSP filters in the DSP options tab.
If you want to convert a multichannel source to stereo insert the "Convert
5.1 to stereo" filter to the DSP filters (see Foobar's DSP options)
It exists a special version of the
foo_dsp_extra.dll which claims to be able to downmix von 5.1 to Dolby Pro Logic
I/II. I haven't tested this dll. If you'd like to try it download it with the
link below:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20885&st=0&p=204747&#entry204747
The conversion is done with Foobar's Diskwriter.
All format specific options are adjusted
in the diskwriter settings tab.
- During the installation of Foobar2000 check
all components get installed!
- Only use the below mentioned tools if the
final converted track contains errors:
Only use BeSliced
or DTS-parser to
correct the DTS stream (->Fix File).
Hopefully you'll get a fixed .DTS file. |
- If your filenames end with ".WAV"
you've to rename them to ".DTS" extension else Foobar won't
recognise DTSWAV as DTS track
- In the Foobar2000 settings click on DSP and
configure and insert the needed filters
- If a change of the sampling frequency from
44.1KHz to 48KHz (e.g. CD->DVD) or the other way round has to be done,
then insert the "Resampler" SSRC filter and configure it. Else
don't insert it!
If the destination should not be multichannel then insert the "Convert
5.1 to stereo" filter

- Select and Right click on the tracks in the
playlist you want to convert. Select "Convert->Run conversion".
Choose the desired format for the conversion:

- You are done.
Format
specific diskwriter options:
To change the settings you'll follow these
steps:
Foobar2000->Preferences->Diskwriter
activate "Use DSP", this ensures foobar2000 applies the DSP
filters you insert in the DSP tab

- AAC-Settings
Under "Output Presets" choose FAAC: MP4(LC), quality 100 and
click "Edit"
If you want to convert to multichannel AAC konvertieren then don't
insert the "Convert 5.1 to stereo" filter.
If you want to convert to stereo AAC, then insert the
"Convert 5.1 to stereo" filter
The settings you do here will be saved and applied to further conversions.

- Ogg Vorbis settings
Under "Output Presets" choose Ogg Vorbis and click
"Edit"
Choose desired quality
The settings you do here will be saved and applied to further conversions.
Note: Don't set quality too high for
multichannel 5.1 ogg as it's not fully stable (might crash or don't work!)

- HE AAC (Nero Encoder)
(Very similar to Kurtnoises
guide from Doom9 Forum)
Note: If Foobar2000 doesn't start and CPU is
occupied with 100% you've to delete the following file: "c:\programme\gemeinsame
dateien\ahead\ahead plugins\" die Datei "nxmyreal.dll"
löschen. This Real-Plugin for Nero from Masau's site http://neroplugins.cd-rw.org/
interferes with Foobar2000 and causes it to crash.
To set up Nero's encoder you need Ahead's Nero
and the Nero
EncoderPlugin foo_nero.dll
-copy "foo_nero.dll" into the "components" folder of
Foobar2000 & "aacenc32.dll" + "aac.dll" in the
Foobar2000 folder
"aacenc32.dll" + "aac.dll" sind in "c:\programme\gemeinsame
dateien\ahead\ahead plugins\"
-Under "Output Presets" click "Add New" and choose the
Nero Encoder from the list. Finally click "OK"

-The Nero encoder window will pop up

-Output Format: choose Nero Digital Audio (HE-AAC) (.mp4)
-Use .m4a: for a .m4a file extension. click "OK"
-Configuration: click on configuration and choose a Preset

-Choose a profile you like and confirm with a click on "OK"
If you want to convert to a multichannel AAC, then don't downmix, don't
insert the "Convert 5.1 to stereo" filter
If you want Two channel Stereo AAC, then insert "Convert
5.1 to stereo" filter
The settings applied here will be saved and used for further conversions
- AAC / Apple Lossless (with Apples iTunes
Encoder V4.7 or above)
(very similar to an article
at Hydrogenaudio.org and one at AudioHQ.de)
-iTunesEncode.exe
CLI Encoder needed
-copy the cli encoder into the Foobar2000 directory
-Under "Output Presets" click on "Add New" and choose
"Commandline Encoder" from the list

-select "iTunesEncode.exe" as encoder
-For AAC compression apply settings as shown in figure below

-Extension: ".m4a"
-Parameters:
-e "AAC Enkoder" -a
"%artist%" -l "%album%" -t "%title%" -g
"%genre%" -y %date% -n %tracknumber% -i %s -o %d
For Apple Lossless change "AAC Enkoder" to "Lossless
Enkoder", so it looks like this:
-e "Lossless Enkoder" -a
"%artist%" -l "%album%" -t "%title%" -g
"%genre%" -y %date% -n %tracknumber% -i %s -o %d
